Polyols
Polyols are organic compounds containing multiple hydroxyl groups and are characterized by their hydroxyl number (OH number, mgKOH/g). Molecules containing more than two hydroxyl groups are called polyols, triols containing three groups and tetrols containing four hydroxyl groups. Characterization is done by looking at viscosity, color, water content, acid value, density, molecular weight and levelling as well as hydroxyl numbers. The hydroxyl numbers of polyols decrease as their molecular weights increase.
